As part of the presentation of the government programme, the Order of Physiotherapists met yesterday with the Minister of Health in a sequence of individual meetings involving the Professional Orders.
At this meeting, the governing elements of the Ministry of Health and their respective functions were presented. The ministry presented the government programme and listened to the needs of professionals. The Board of the Order emphasised the need for functional physiotherapy units and the importance of registering the acts inherent to the profession, as well as establishing the physiotherapist's professional profile. The Basic Health Law and the SNS Statute were also discussed during the meeting.
The Order also showed its willingness to provide the necessary clarifications in its governmental activity.
From the Ministry of Health, the Minister of Health, Marta Temido, the Deputy Secretary of State for Health, António Lacerda Sales, the Secretary of State for Health, Maria de Fátima Fonseca, and their respective heads of Cabinet of the Ministry of Health were present.
The Order of Physiotherapists' President, António Lopes, and 1st Vice-President, Nuno Cordeiro, were present.
