About 2 thousand professional ballots sent to Physiotherapists

The second batch of professional cards of Physiotherapists has already been sent by ordinary registered mail to the respective holders.

In their professional conduct, physiotherapists must accurately identify themselves as members of the Order, namely by their professional name and professional card number. Consult the guidance document regarding the existence, evidence and use of vignettes.

Ballot papers are being sent to all registered members, and this task has been awarded to a company outside the Order. In certain cases, it has been necessary to correct personal data, such as postal addresses and photographs. Shipments are being made as the situations are corrected.

Physiotherapists are part of the priority group of professionals in health services (public and private) and other health care services, as part of the autumn-winter vaccination campaign against COVID-19 and influenza. The current vaccination campaign is taking place in health centres and specific vaccination centres. See list: List of Vaccination Centres - Covid 19 (min-saude.pt). The Order is calling on physiotherapists to get vaccinated, as they must be accompanied by their professional card or a statement from their employer proving their professional activity. Order of Physiotherapists receives the National Association of Young People in Physiotherapy

A Order of Physiotherapists (OF) met with the National Association of Young People in Physiotherapy(ANJF) on 21 September.

The purpose of the meeting was to address and discuss issues related to the target population of the association whose mission is "to represent Physiotherapy Students and Young Portuguese Physiotherapists (...)", namely the possibility of establishing special conditions regarding the payment of membership fees for those completing their degree. The Order reiterated its willingness to study the proposal as part of the preparation of the Budget proposal and the Activity Plan proposal for 2023.

The National Association of Young People in Physiotherapy also asked for clarification on the process of creation of the specialities board Physiotherapy professionals in Portugal, with António Lopes explaining the set of stages of this objective, which derives from this attribution of the Order of Physiotherapists, provided for in article 4 of the Statute of the Association of Physiotherapists. Statutes.

Representing the Order were the President and Member Afonso Neutel. The ANJF was represented by Beatriz Silva and António Martins, recently elected president and vice-president respectively, and treasurer Sofia Tavares.

Portuguese Physiotherapists Order promotes the divulgation of the National Plan for Patient Safety

Today, 17 September, is World Patient Safety Day.

The Order of Physiotherapists joins this initiative by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and considering that Patient Safety is a priority for Physiotherapists, recommends consulting the National Patient Safety Plan 2021-2026 (PNSD 2021-2026)approved under the terms of Order no. 9390/2021, of 24 September.

The PNSD 2021-2026 is based on 5 main pillars, with their respective strategic objectives, plus the corresponding actions and targets.   

  • Pillar 1: Safety culture; 
  • Pillar 2: Leadership and governance;
  • Pillar 3: Communication;
  • Pillar 4: Prevention and management of patient safety incidents; 
  • Pillar 5: Safe practices in safe environments.

Online conference on Patient Safety: NOTIFICA platform

As part of the theme chosen to mark World Patient Safety Day 2022 - Safety in the use of medication -and the dissemination of the National Plan for Patient Safety 2021-2026 and the development of competences in relation to the five pillars, the Order will organise a conference online aimed at physiotherapists, dedicated to the topic of incident reporting (platform NOTICE). The date, programme and registration information will be announced shortly.

Today is World Physical Therapy Day!

"It is also a day to honour physiotherapists as health professionals", in the words of the President of the Portuguese Physiotherapists Order, António Lopes.

This year, the focus of this event, organised by World Physiotherapy, is osteoarthritis, one of the health conditions with the highest levels of associated disability and a problem that affects more than 500 million people worldwide.

The Order of Physiotherapists highlights the decisive role of physiotherapists in the treatment and management of people affected by this condition in an information leaflet, which can be consulted and downloaded. here.
